Twiggy – Chelsea London, 1966 (photo Arthur Steel)
Arthur recalls: “In 1966, I was asked to photograph a very young fashion model called ‘Twiggy’ who had literally just started out in her modelling career. We arranged to meet at her then boyfriend’s house in Chelsea, London.
On arrival, she was sporting a three-quarter length fur, topped with a felt cloche hat with a little bow knot to the front. Well – there was a picture right in front of me.
As it happened, I was a little early for our appointment that day and had had time to scout the area beforehand for an appropriate backdrop; I had stumbled across an enormous ornate oak door – needless to say; I had my picture.”
