American actress Faye Dunaway takes breakfast by the pool with the day’s newspapers at the Beverly Hills Hotel, 29th March 1977.

She seems to be peacefully resting after her success at the previous night’s Oscar awards.

Terry O’Neill said of this portrait: ‘I call this picture ‘The Morning After’. I wanted to get a different kind of ‘Oscar’ picture – one to illustrate what the award meant to actors and actresses.”

No image better captures both the allure and the loneliness of celebrity than this of his future wife Faye Dunaway, with the Academy Award for Best Actress she won the previous night for ‘Network’.

The Morning After shot is considered to be one of his most iconic photographs and is part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London.
